What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It refers to the process of getting your web pages to rank better in the search results from the search engines. In particular, the term refers to increasing free un-paid traffic to your web pages from the engines. Un-paid engine traffic is called "organic", or "natural" traffic. If you pay for Google ads, the hits from those ads are considered non-organic. There is on-page, technical, and off-page SEO. On-page is where you optimize the content and code of your web pages for search engines. Technical refers to optimizing the non-content parts of your web page. Off-page is where you take action to improve your ranking apart from editing your pages. For example, getting people to link to your web page is off-page. It is important to note that the engines do not rank websites as much as they rank web pages. So, you must do SEO for every page on your website, not just the home page. You need to use SEO to make your web pages way more successful. A bad web page with good SEO will fail. Conversely, a good web page with poor SEO will also fail. However, a good web page with good SEO will triumph. As long as your content is good quality, SEO will help you leaps and bounds. If your content is poor quality I wouldn't even bother with trying to optimize your web pages. Either scrap your web pages or re-design them.
